Zoe-perry

Perry was born in Chicago to two actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. She first appeared on television in the role of Jackie Harris, a character that was played by her mother on the ABC comedy Roseanne. However, her parents would not let her perform until she turned an adult fearing the effect of stress. Perry admitted that she wasn't at ease in the stage during high school, but started performing as the way of meeting new individuals while at Northwestern University after switching from Boston University. After graduation Perry moved back to New York to search for acting opportunities on TV, landing small roles in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent but homesickness brought her back to California in search of acting work. Her mother and she appeared on Broadway as a couple with her in The Other Place, in 2013. She performed with her father Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in the year 2015 on the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry appeared in nine episodes of the ABC film The Family in 2016. Perry played a prominent role for the ABC politics drama Scandal, starring her dad. She was also cast in the CBS show The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon as a version younger than Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. She was able to be cast in the part despite the close connections to the character's family.
